CUCSSA Volleyball Club in the City of New York

Hello folks,

I'm glad to announce we will play our first volleyball game this Sunday, Feb.3 from 3 to 5 PM, thanks to Helen's effort of talking to the gym director. Please make sure to arrive on time because we only have 2 hours.

IMPORTANT:
we are switching our mailing list to Google Groups the week after next (Feb. 10). After that, I will send weekly play announcements via Google Groups (http://groups.google.com/group/cucssa-volleyball-club/). Because people are coming and graduating every semester, it is easier for me to maintain the mailing list in Google Groups so that people can join or quit at their own will. Therefore please join our Google Groups ASAP if you would like to continue to subscribe to our mailing list. I have sent out Google Groups invitations last week to everyone in this mailing list. If you would like me to send the invitation again let me know. Or you can go to our Google Groups homepage to join (http://groups.google.com/group/cucssa-volleyball-club/subscribe) -- it appears you'll have to have a gmail account in order to register.

Our time is now set at 12-3 PM Sunday, Dec. 16 in Levien Gym. Please come on time because:

a) it will be our last play for this semester, and for this year;
b) men's basketball will take over the court at 3 PM.

Hello my friends,

Bad first. This Sunday we don't have volleyball court. Poor prospect for Saturday either because the men's basketball team (btw they sucked again in last week's game at Connecticut) has it from 10 am to 7 pm. So we'll just have rest this week.

Good news always comes last. Xiaoyu has friends at the volleyball club of University of Rutgers (Xiaoyu pls correct me if I misremembered the university's name). They are interested in playing a game with us but would like us to go to their court, which is 2-3 hours' drive from NYC, because it's hard to find them a place to spend the night in NYC. They said they can find us overnight accommodations if we go to their place to play.

It's near the end of the semester and I understand everyone is busy. So I wonder how many of you are in NYC around Xmas? We may set up a game with them in Dec. 22, 23, or even 26. I am leaving New York for vacation on 28th and will be back when next semester begins. So if most of us can only play after New Year that's fine just play without me. But please do let me know what do you think.

Hello there,

I'm sorry for sending out this email late.

This Sunday (Dec. 2) we will have the volleyball game 1-3 PM at Levien gym. They have assigned us two courts, hopefully they both belong to us!

Please be on time -- especially if you need people to help you into the gym. Here I want to repeat an old "rule" we have in the passed semesters: If you arrive half an hour late after the game starts, we don't promise we'll answer your pickup request immediately. If you know you'll be late for more than half an hour, please call me in advance.

To come on time is kinda an etiquette. If you always come late, you're always interrupting others' playing, and you never help set up the court. Our club is for fun so I hope everyone will contribute something and have wonderful experiences.

Sorry guys, this week Columbia gym has other arrangements so we can't play.
